Promoting my music feels like a bit of a hurdle. Not just from the public side, but even with people in my personal life. Don't get me wrong. There are people who show interest and I'm totally grateful for them. There just seems to be other occasions where I feel like an other when I bring up my music. When I was younger, I was the teen DJ, fun but not seen as original. Then I started making beats and got labeled the beatmaker. Then I starting writing full songs and feel like I'm still getting boxed in a separate category. No, I'm not the most technical musician. No, I don't want to use the same slop promotion on IG. No, I don't spend hours caring about what Lufs my master is hitting. I'm not going to act like my art doesn't come with a level of naïveté, but it feels like I'm seen as less ideal because of it.
