Here's where I will give any replies or comments to the things I read on Flounder.
4.7 - @juliocaesar Your post about South City DIY is beautifully written! As a 22 yr old still finding my footing in the scene right now, I resonate with trying to create that DIY community in my generation, while also looking towards previous generations for the knowledge and resources they may have. While I believe I've slowly found people to create that community with, I still want to soak in more information from those who have been in the scene longer than me. I also just appreciate places such as Bolo and the Nest right now. Some of the best shows I've seen in STL as of late have come from these DIY House Venues sprouting throughout South City, and I enjoy the type of crowds they bring. People who actually care about the music. I do hope this side of the scene continues to grow, and I wish to do my part that it does :)
Also, Congrats on the tape! It's so fucking good!
4.2 - @awsweetdonuts Greetings :D I saw a couple of people making chatrooms in Flounder, so I wanted to try one myself. Outside of my Tumblr and Youtube Channel, I don't have any other social media platforms, and I plan on keeping it that way. I do love the little community I've seen grow on this capsule. My buddy @gooman told me about it, and we've been trying to convert more of our friends to get off Instagram and come on here.
4.1 - @moldgold222 & @piracy Congrats on the tape release! I just listened to the full thing, and it sounds awesome! I unfortunately won't be able to go to the release show, as I will be out of town this weekend, but I would love to go to any future shows, yesyesyes.
2.5 - @moldgold222 I see you have Charlotte Adigery on yourrecommendation.gmi. Have you heard her album with Bolis Pupul, Topical Dancer? Honestly, one of my favorite albums of the 2020s. If you have and enjoy it, I'd like to recommend Pull the Rope by Ibibio Sound Machine. Same new-wavey spirit with even more of an Afrobeat twist!
1.26 - @gooman Good Golly Dude! You were on a journey! I haven't gotten to really go out much during this recent snowstorm. The closest I've gotten to touching grass was taking out the trash today lol. Also, I hope that your lymph node situation gets better. Garlic Naan sounds soooo yummy!
1.25 - @arielatthewheel I saw your journal from earlier today. I know we've never met, and I don't even know if you'll read this. I just want to say that you are not alone in these feelings. In the last year, I grew a level of anxiety and attachment towards my relationships with people. If I didn't basically see them regularly, I would fear that I would be forgotten or that I wasn't doing enough to be accepted as a friend. It was especially bad during moments when I was overwhelmed by work and school. I didn't feel that I had anyone to pick me back up. I recognize that I do have people, but it's something that I have to remind myself quite often. This is the benefit of having some variant of a journal. Sometimes I need to literally list out my friends so that I remember they are people who care about me. When I do get to spend time with people, I write it down so that I can look back and recognize that there were good times before I felt isolated, and that there will be more times in the future. All that to say, while I can't take away the pain of feeling isolated, I hope the knowledge that others feel the same way may help your situation.
