I have some singles I'm going to be dropping soon, but I don't want to put my music on Spotify. I honestly don't want to put my music on any streaming service (not you Bandcamp. ur still my bbg). I'm tired of the reliance on these AI-promoting, Geno-funding corporations to listen and appreciate good art. I remember when I first came out with my beat tapes; I told my friends about it. Their first mind was to check if it was on Spotify immediately. I don't blame them for this, cause that's how normalized it's become to do so. I look at some of my favorite artists who've taken their music off Spotify. It inspires me to try and stay as far away with my art as I can, but I also recognize that will deter certain people from wanting to listen to my music. It sucks. I put stuff out on YouTube and Bandcamp, but people don't go on those because they're not some convenient algorithmic slop. Maybe it's better at least knowing that the people who do listen will do so even outside of convenience. In a perfect world, I would just put everything on cassettes and just give them out to people that I know will appreciate the music. Unfortunately, I do not have the equipment or streamline to do so yet. An investment for the future, perchance.
